COLDSKY.CN – Children’s interactive reading platform Ellabook.cn has raised 40 million yuan in Series A+ financing led by VTRON INVESTMENT(威创投资) with the support of the QingSong Fund (青松基金) and QF Capital (启赋资本).

In addition to thousands of animated books licensed from copyrights owned by publishing houses from home and abroad, the core advantage of Ellabook.cn really lies in technical solutions developed by 60 engineers over three years, Ren Hui, founder of the Zhengzhou-based startup, told Feng Yingxing of NewSeed.cn.

A large number of animated books on the market enable children to listen, read and interact with story characters in more immersive settings. Many other companies also offer similar services, with the more fascinating products using AR/VR.

But Ren said Ellabook.cn stands out for technology and is the only one to offer animated books compatible with Android, iOS, Windows, TVs and projectors.

He added that the company plans to further improve its technology with the use of AI in 2018 and aims to produce 10 animated books a day, a task unattainable using Flash or other programs.

Ellabook.cn now also offers a library service to serve nearly 6,000 kindergartens with books and other learning materials saved on hardware to facilitate teaching, according to NewSeed.cn.

The Ellabook app released in October 2016 has been downloaded 1.5 million times. Users can pay per book or choose a monthly fee of 28 yuan or annual fee of 240 yuan for using the resources.

Independent authors or publishing houses can also use the software to make animated books by adding interactions, thinking training, touch reading and games without a programmer’s knowhow.

The author of Chinese report, Feng Yingxing of NewSeed.cn, has authorized COLDSKY.CN to translate and rewrite the story.
