Unmanned system solution provider Zhuoyi Intelligent (卓翼智能) has recently completed a 50 million RMB series A round financing led by Beihang Investment (北航投资, partly supported by Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics)and Shenzhen Sheen Asset Management (穗银安信), 36kr.com reported.
Founded in 2015, Zhuoyi started from developing military-grade flight control and navigation equipment, and now covers two major fields: military and firefighting, including a tethered drone for high-rise building fire response launched last year. The XD-150 heavy-duty drone can be mounted with various sizes of fire hoses and lifted to a height of 150 metres.
The startup focuses on niche markets and industry applications. Founder Ren Xuefeng said the use of photoelectric composite cable provides continuous energy supply, ensuring the drone can hover in the air for 24 hours. Efforts were also made to improve performance of wind resistance and anti-interference. The drone can provide telecommunication service over a distance of up to 4 km, an area of 50 square kilometres and a maximum of more than 1,800 users.
