COLDSKY.CN – At the CCF-GAIR 2020, Xia Huaxia, chief scientist and AI head of food delivery giant Meituan Dianping, said extensive scenarios drive the application of AI to make life better.
Xia said AI will help improve the experiences of 450 million users and management of 6 million merchants active on the O2O lifestyle service platform, according to Leiphone.com.
The platform has accumulated 7 billion user reviews and 10 billion online images, a valuable collection to explore AI using images, videos, audios, motion planning and intelligent distribution.
As an application of voice interaction, Meituan Dianping now supports voice-based food service from searching to ordering and payment, which can be helpful for elderly people or the disabled.
Data from the e-commerce platform showed nearly 20 percent of stores closed each year for various reasons. Meituan Dianping plans to offer services in location, management, feedback response.
The e-commerce arm “Meituan Shangou” provides a marketplace for merchants such as supermarkets to sell FMCG, fresh produce, pharmaceuticals, flowers and plants. It promises 30-mintue delivery after ordering.
Nearly 800,000 delivery people in 2,800 cities are providing various services with the app, but this is insufficient to meet the demands in next five years, so Meituan Dianping is also developing drones and autonomous delivery vehicles. In February, it offered such vegetables delivery service first in Shunyi District of Beijing.
