COLDSKY.CN – CurveRobot(曲线智能), which aims to be the first painting robot maker in China, harvested tens of millions of yuan in Series A round of financing to boost R&D and market development, 36kr.com reported.

The investment came from Qianhai FOF(前海母基金), SIASUN Investment(新松创投) and Y&R Capital(雅瑞资本投资).

The company, established in 2018 in Beijing, provides surfaces–spray painting with robots and automation for furniture, metal plate and small industrial parts based on 3D visualization.

Spraying in household products industry has always faced the problem of low standardization and automation, while  the work environment can harm worker’s health and  labour-intensive work affects the quality too. The spraying robots in Chinese market are mainly dominated foreign giants including ABB, Dürr AG, FANUC and Yaskawa.

CurveRobot’s 6-axis industrial robot uses 3D scanner to acquire the information of a workpiece, then apply the AI to determine the size and scope before spraying operations.

“Our self-developed robot is made of special waterproof, wear-resistant and explosionproof materials to ensure the safety, and the long arm and rotating part helps address problem of partial painting,” said Qian Xin, CEO of CurveRobot.

Qian also said   an intelligent spraying robot can replace 2-3 human workers, and customers can recoup their cost within 2 years.
