Alibaba now owns pan-beauty service provider Helijia
Alibaba became the largest shareholder of Helijia.com, a provider of all kinds of beauty-related services, following the latest investment of +100 millions.
Gu Mai (古迈), general manager of Tmall’s business unit of Fashion and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), said Tmall has been expanding the presence on virtual service and is interested in the performance of Helijia.com in new retails and localized services.
Prior to the investment, Helijia.com, based in Beijing, also partnered with Tmall to offer door-to-door services for customers who bought beauty products through the e-commerce giant. More than 50 high-end brands are now cooperating with Helijia.com.
Helijia.com helps specialists of nail polishing, facial make-up, hairdressing, eyelashes and styling to find customers. It has nearly 100 top performers who can make 30,000-50,000 yuan a month.
A searching for nail salons by city on Dianping.com will show 40,000 stores in four first-tire cities, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Data from iResearch showed China had 370,000 stores offering exclusively nail service and employed over 2.6 million people.
