COLDSKY.CN – Chinese tech giant Tencent has poured another one billion yuan ($143 million) to support the battle against outbreak of the novel coronavirus epidemic, which already led to the death of 722 people by Friday.

This followed the donation of 300 million yuan on January 24 to purchase medical supplies for epidemic control and another 200 million yuan on February 3 for WeChat mini-program developers to assist philanthropic efforts in the battle.

Of the latest donation, 300 million yuan will be earmarked to honor role models at the front lines of China’s fight against the epidemic, such as medics, journalists and volunteers. 

Tencent also designed 200 million yuan from the fund to support families hit hard by the epidemic.

Half of the one billion yuan will be used to support researches, improvement of healthcare facilities and awareness campaigns of popular science.
